A Cinematic & Nostalgic Autumn Wedding in Assisi, Italy

A relaxed destination celebration at Villamena

This was the first destination wedding on my photography journey. Sophie & Anish found me through Instagram, like the majority of my couples - they loved the cinematic vibe of my work, and the main reason they wanted to work with me was the fact that "I can tell a real story with photos in a way that doesn't involve overly staged or posed images - managing to capture the genuine emotion and connection between couples in the photos in a really lovely, authentic and unobtrusive way!" I was stoked about everything we discussed in our inquiry call. They were after an authentic and cinematic way of documenting their wedding day, which, essentially, was a big fun weekend-long celebration with all their dearest friends and family in an Italian villa called Villamena. It's just outside of the city of Assisi in Perugia, Italy and has some mind blowing views of the green hills and valleys, and the sunset we were lucky to witness that day was incredible!

This day was Sophie & Anish's symbolic wedding, as they had already got legally married earlier this year in their hometown of Perth in Australia. So the vibe was really chill and relaxed. It was so beautiful to observe everyone just having the time of their lives without stressing about how "perfect" or "right" anything was - and that made everything exactly that: perfectly wholesome, joy-filled and so cinematic. I genuinely felt I was watching movie scenes unfolding in front of me, and the location definitely gets massive kudos for that. The team at Villamena made sure they had everything under control, so that everyone else could relax and enjoy. I'm also madly obsessed with the fact that ceremonies in Italy are commonly held in late afternoon - this one was at 4 pm. Given it was October, the day was coming to an end, and the light was absolutely delicious! A photographer's dream. I vote for more ceremonies to happen later in the day, even in the UK. Spend the first part of the day hanging out with your parties, or even with each other!

Here comes the gallery from this magnificent day, a mix of digital and 35mm film.
